TRAFFIC, October 2025 – Kenya’s trade in marine ornamental fish, according to a 2025 TRAFFIC report, involves millions of wild-caught fish exported over the past decade, yet suffers from major data gaps, weak traceability, and discrepancies between Kenya’s and importers’ records. The findings highlight the urgent need for better monitoring and sustainable management to protect reef ecosystems and ensure fair economic benefits. These results align with what we have documented for the EU and global ornamental fish trade—showing similar challenges in transparency and sustainability worldwide: https://www.traffic.org/site/assets/files/27722/kenya-ornamental-fish-summary-2025.pdf
