CITES, 7 – 10 May 2024: Techical worshop in Brisbane, Australia, under the framework of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES; www.cites.org), focusing specifically on the trade of marine ornamental fishes. At the CITES conference in Geneva back in 2019, the 184 member states already agreed that the trade of over 2,000 species of marine ornamental fishes, predominantly wild-caught, must finally undergo thorough examination. This historic decision was made possible particularly thanks to our many years of research. However, due to the global pandemic, the implementation of this agreement has been postponed until now. The time has come to address this urgent matter.
